All trailers contain automatic washing and disinfection systems to prevent any possible infection from being transmitted from one load to the next.
After unloading, trailers are driven into a recipient’s washing area. Any bedding and manure is then swept out of the trailer.
With the automatic washing and disinfection system, the majority of cleaning takes place inside the trailer. Water is taken from the water tank or the farmer’s tap, and a soap solution is added automatically.
After the driver has put on his personal protective equipment (face mask and gloves), he can start the final layer of the trailer’s integrated washing equipment.
The washing process is very demanding, due to the fact that every nook and cranny of the trailer must be totally clean.
One wash takes between one and two hours, depending on the number of decks of the trailer.
When all areas are absolutely clean, an environmentally friendly disinfectant is sprayed onto all surfaces.
The cleaning performance is monitored on a regular basis, for instance by performing smear tests from selected areas of the trailer.
